William Esdale is a British artist, curator and publisher based in London. He studied his BA Fine Art at Kingston University, graduating with First Class Honours in 2011.

Esdale’s work has been shown in many screenings, events and galleries which include: Japan, Portugal, Switzerland, Finland, London, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Germany, USA, Cyprus, France, Netherlands, Ukraine and Mexico.

At the centre of my art practice I investigate theory concerning the human condition and question art-making which provokes and intermediates between visceral emotion and identity.

My early interest and inspiration was drawn from the German Expressionist painters, from whom I learned the use of colour, motion and emotion in visual narratives. This early education in art history voices the integration of poetic subtext in my work.

I experiment with digital and printed media formats including data corruption and image manipulation methods to structure varied contemporary concepts, to challenge what a digital art form can be and change the understanding of the media and medium. The manipulation and juxtaposition of imagery in video and film has become a major characteristic in my work.
